A few years ago, he wrote the introduction to my "In Search Of My Rib" poetry book. And from time to time, he'd surprise a struggling writer with an unsolicited check in the mail - a real morale-building gift. He was a great friend and will be missed."

You can find Sherman ’s biography in the 2006 and 2007 editions of Marquis Who’s Who in American Education and Who’s Who in Science and Engineering (acknowledged as a Mathematician, Educator). He was Co-chairman of the Citizens for Good Government Committee; and Business Manager for the Watts Star Review Newspaper in 1965. He was Theatrical Producer, Director for the Theatre Of Watts from 1965 through 1967. He wrote plays, poetry and essays and was published in Time Magazine, Antioch Review, Scholastic Magazine, etc. He received an Emmy Nomination for a Documentary shown on NBC Television in 1966. He received the Quality Of Life Award from Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority in 1994. The Famous Poets’ Society gave him the Poet Of The Year Award in 2003. And he was named to the famous Wall Of Tolerance by the late great Rosa Parks and Attorney Morris Dees of the National Campaign Of Tolerance in 2005. He was a founding member and Creative Director of Budd Schulberg’s Watts Writers Workshop. He was a screenwriter for Universal Studios in 1967 and 1968.
